There is a beautiful honey-souled man sleeping naked in my bed right now. I should be there with him but work stops for no [wo]man.
It was difficult to fall asleep last night. I could feel the sleep pressing around me but just as I neared the tipping point, the calling birds swooped in on me, causing my brain to bob back to the surface again.
I think he could tell that something kept pulling me back, so he kept watch until I finally descended to the bottom of the sleep tank.
And then the dreaming... and the jarring vertigo of my body talking,
telling me things, revealing its secrets. There was a tickle from under
my left arm. The focused tapping of some intelligent form of life
following its purpose. I rolled and raised to peer at the disturbance.
Two small mounds like little kisses raised in the tissue of my
side-breast and underarm, a miniscule hole in the tip of each. Tiny
transluscent ants that seemed to be made of sticky light. They traveled
back and forth between the two ports, carrying black grains from the
breast ant hole to the undearm ant hole. I reached out to brush them
away but found I couldn't. I woke to the alarm, my hand still swiping
at the phantom ant-toe tickling.
What's the oldest digital camera photo you have on your computer? When is it from? Let's see it!
In the first of my many encounters with strange brain medical issues, a "pulsatile mass" on my tragus ruptured with no warning and no pain, shooting blood in arterial pulses to spray the wall as I stood there agape, watching it in the mirror.
This was the very first photo took with my very first digital camera [a mavica], after I got home from the ER in the wee hours of Dec. 31, 1998.
It was the perfect ending to an insane day, having spent 12 hours snowed in at the St. Louis airport while trying to get home from my mom's house for xmas.
And it's ironic to post this, having just gotten home from having an aneurysm embolized.
My brain still hates me.
