my milo

this is Milo (and his special ephalump). he was three & a half. a few weeks ago he got sick with a gastrointestinal ulcer (a fairly common illness in ferrets). the vet took great care of him and got his ulcer all fixed up. unfortunately, the bleeding in his tummy left him severely anemic, and he couldn't seem to start building red blood cells again. so we were waiting for a blood transfusion kit to arrive at the vet’s office. he wasn't in any pain, just extremely weak and tired, and getting weaker and more tired. a blood transfusion for a ferret is surprisingly affordable, and would have very likely fixed him right up.

sadly, it took too long for the equipment to arrive (they already had a donor ferret ready to go). the vet expected the kit Friday morning at the earliest, but Milo couldn't make it that long. he died Thursday evening. i miss my little buddy an awful, awful lot. i am utterly heart-broken. something in me really wants to be angry with the vet for not ordering the transfusion kit earlier, but i think that's just me looking for someone to blame.
